A non-commercial festival for children and families promoting quality time together, health, safety, art, reading, learning, and community.  Dozens of community partners present booths of games, art activities, giveaways, sports, screenings, and information.  Inflatables, stage shows, train ride, and a free film at the end.

Admission is free; some activities have a small fee.  Minimal family-friendly food is available at a nominal cost.

Massillon Tiger Touchdown Club

The Touchdown Club meets every Tuesday during the Massillon Tiger Football season.  Lunch is served at 11:30am and the meeting will take place at 12:00pm.  Membership dues are $25 for the season and meals are $8.00 per week with exception to McKinley Week which is $12. 

The Touchdown Club is an open adult booster group that was formed in 1950 during the regime of Coach Chuck Mather.

OhioMeansJobs Stark County will be teaming up with the City of Massillon, Massillon WestStark Chamber of Commerce, The Independent, Monster, Mix 94.1 and News-Talk 1480 WHBC for a fourth year to produce the Massillon Job Fair.  The event will be held Wednesday, September 27th, 9am-noon at the Massillon Recreation Center, 505 Erie Street North.   

Job seekers and veterans will be given the opportunity to meet face to face with employers who are actively hiring.

This workshop will cover generational differences and strengths of Traditionalists, Baby Boomers, Gen Xers, Gen Ys/Millenials and the newest generation in the workforce, GenZs.  It will focus on how each generation can find common ground and communicate more effectively, take advantage of differences in values and expectations, and make a favorable impression with an employer.  There also will be a two-employer panel, each representing a different generation that will discuss how they view generations in the workplace.

Massillon Zombie Walk - 10th Anniversary

Zombies invade the streets of Massillon during the 10th anniversary of The Massillon Zombie Walk. The Walk returns Saturday, October 14th from 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM. Presented by Masonic Temple Clinton Lodge #47 F&AM, the annual event promises to be a lively celebration! No registration is required and the event is open to the public.

Adding to this year’s celebration, New Wave Nation will kick off the final Thriller performance at 7:30 PM on 1st Street. The popular band will close out the night with their signature 1980’s arena style experience.

Local Vendors and Activities for Kids

Local vendors will have their products available for sale during the Zombie Walk. Vendors will be found in Duncan Plaza as well as 1st Street from 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM.

Not forgetting about the smallest zombie fans, the annual event with the support of the Massillon Public Library, will offer a variety of kids activities and crafts. Kids activities will be located inside the Massillon Museum beginning at 5:00 PM. 

Thriller Performance and Zombie Walk
The Zombie Walk kicks off at 6:00 PM on 1st Street with the highly anticipated performance of Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Encore performances of the popular dance will be at 7:00 PM on the Massillon Public Library lawn and a final performance on 1st Street with New Wave Nation at 7:30 PM.

Community Hospice is a community based, non-profit organization that has provided end-of-life care and support for patients and their families in their time of need for over 30 years. Health Screen & Wellness Fair

The Rotary Club of Canton and Mercy Medical Center have partnered to bring very low-cost health screenings to the Stark County community. On Saturday, April 21, the Health Screen & Wellness Fair will take place from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Mercy Medical Center’s Mercy Hall Auditorium, 1320 Mercy Drive NW, Canton. Mercy Hall is located directly behind the hospital’s main parking garage.

For just $40, community members can purchase a Basic Panel of blood screenings, which include: CBC with differential, CMP, lipid profile and thyroid (TSH). This Basic Panel tests for cholesterol, anemia and kidney/liver function and provides over 30 results. In addition to the $40 Basic Panel, several optional screenings will also be offered, including:

  • A1C Hemoglobin (extended look at glucose/blood sugar)       $15
  • PSA (prostate)                                                                                  $15
  • Vitamin D 25-Hydroxy (vitamin D deficiency)                             $48

A 12-hour fast is recommended for more accurate results. To register in advance, please call the Canton Rotary at 330-452-2882 or visit www.cantonrotary.org. Although registration is preferred, walk-in appointments are also welcome. Rotary Club of Canton will accept cash, check and credit card (VISA and MASTERCARD) for the above screenings.

In addition to the blood screenings, Mercy Medical Center is offering a FREE Wellness Fair with health information and additional FREE screenings, such as blood pressure checks, body mass index readings, pulmonary function testing and much more.
